Grades 4-7 The #Movements series (6 titles) is as timely as they come, and this offering is particularly relevant to today's youth. The titular hashtag was begun by students from Parkland, Florida, after the 2018 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. The book explains how this tragedy spawned the #NeverAgain movement for stricter gun-control laws, providing context of the Second Amendment and its supporters and opponents, as well as stats related to escalating gun violence in the U.S. The chapters follow the movement's leaders from their initial social media campaign to the March for Our Lives rally in Washington, D.C. It's a balanced and encouraging look at activism that avoids getting mired in details. What's more, this book will speak to students as they see their peers making a difference.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2019, American Library Association.)
