      Temple Grandin herself narrates her introduction, which explains the roots of her success: the single-mindedness and unique way of seeing that are part of autism and her childhood habit of "making things." If she had narrated the entire book, her voice might have begun to grate; not so with Ann Richardson's narration of Grandin's engaging, witty, thoughtful ideas. Richardson deftly handles the various aspects of the book--personal anecdotes, intriguing science and mathematical innovations, biographies, science experiments and their specific directions, and the author's views of racism and sexism. Information is organized by themes, such as levers and pulleys and optical illusions, and sparkles with details that explain everything from the fun of water bombing a sibling to a keyboard's design.
